Become an Area Coordinator

Make a real difference locally and abroad!

Become an NWSE Area Coordinator and make a real difference in the life of an exchange student. Provide American families with the opportunity to learn about another country without leaving home. Give international young people the chance for an American educational experience while promoting international friendship in your community. You can help us achieve all this and more by becoming an NWSE Area Coordinator!

Area Coordinators are a crucial part of the NWSE exchange. They help ensure a safe and rewarding exchange experience for all program participants by recruiting and helping screen caring volunteer host families. Area coordinators (also called local coordinators or academic coordinators) provide local supervision to our students, maintain regular contact with them and their host families, and offer support when needed. They serve as the local point of contact, conduct orientations for our students and host families, and organize some activities.

NWSE Area Coordinators love working with youth, believe in the value of international understanding and friendship, enjoy reaching out to others, and are often well connected in their communities. Many Coordinators hold a part-time or full-time job.

Whether you want to place and supervise 1 or 2 students, or 10 to 20 or more, come join the NWSE Team and help us build bridges across cultures for international learning and friendship!
